Editorial policy
Local Film Journal aims to be accurate, independent and clear about how each piece was made. We welcome correction and take care to distinguish editorial work from material created with a partner.
Accuracy and context
We check names, dates, descriptions and other factual details against suitable sources before publication, and we take care not to overstate what a source or example can show. When a piece describes a particular place or event, we make its scope clear rather than implying it represents every local film community.
Independence and partnerships
Editorial decisions are made for readers, not as a condition of a partnership. Paid or partner material is clearly labelled so readers can tell it apart from independent editorial work. A partnership does not guarantee favourable coverage, and editorial content is not offered in exchange for payment.
Corrections
If a published piece contains an error, contact us through the Contact page with the article title and the detail in question. We review correction requests, update confirmed errors and make a clear note when a change materially affects a reader's understanding.
Images and illustrations
We use images and illustrations with attention to their source and context. Some illustrations may be AI-generated; when used, they are identified as such and are not presented as documentary photographs.
A film night is a shared act of attention
The screen matters, but so do the choices around it: what is shown, where people gather and how the evening makes room for everyone.
